Oklahoma Panhandle State University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mark Laird has announced that Bill Livezey has joined his staff as the Assistant Coach in time for the 2020-21 season. Livezey comes to the Aggies after most recently serving as a similar position at Cairn University.
“I am thrilled to have Coach Livezey join our family,” Laird said. “Having been to a national tournament in four of the last six years as both a player and a coach, he brings a winning mindset and attention to detail. He is humble, driven and knowledgeable. More than all of these things though, Billy is a man of strong faith and character who has a servant’s heart and will pour into the lives of the young men in our program. He exemplifies what our Uncommon Culture is all about. We are blessed to welcome him and his wife to the Aggie family.”
As an Assistant at Cairn from 2018-20, Livezey was lead the team’s recruiting efforts, as well as overall operation and implementation of plans for games and practices. He supervised the program’s academic study tables, resulting in an NABC Team Academic Excellence Award (with a grade point average of 3.26) and seven players recognized on the NABC Honors Court. The Cairn teams recorded 18 victories in each of the seasons with Livezey on staff, making the school’s first-ever NCAA post-season appearance in 2019-20.
Livezey’s other related experience included serving as the head coach at Alexander Basketball Academy, working with 17-to-20 year-old overseas players. Additionally, Livezey was a varsity assistant coach at Dayspring Christian Academy, a summer camp coach at Katahdin High School, worked in athletic event management at North Greenville University and served as a camp coach at the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at the University of North Carolina.
As a player, Livesey began his career as a walk-on in 2014-15 at NCAA II North Greenville, helping the team to the Conference Carolinas championship and a NCAA tournament appearance. He then transferred to LBC, where he enjoyed a three-year career that included three-consecutive NEAC championship appearances, a 64-21 composite record as a player and two NCAA national tourney berths.
Livezey is an NABC member coach and a USA Basketball Gold License Coach. He has worked numerous camps and clinics and at various levels.
Livezey and his wife Eliana reside in Goodwell.
