A couple of things that I’ve heard from the Great State of Texas…

• UTEP assistant coach Ken Deweese is expected to depart to become an assistant at Northern Colorado. He has been on the Miners staff since 2010 and has also been an assistant at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. His father, Ken Deweese, Sr. was an assistant coach at UTEP from 1976-80 under the legendary Don Haskins.

• Texas A&M will hire former Troy head coach Don Maestri in an administrative role. Maestri spent 31 seasons as the head coach at Troy (1982-2013) where he won 502 games. He was also the head coach at Holy Cross HS in New Orleans (1970-79) – the same school where Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy played.
