Salkehatchie head men’s basketball coach Matt Lynch has announced the addition of David Long as assistant coach for the 2025-2026 season. Coach Long was the head coach at Summerville High School for the last 9 seasons, amassing a 136-78 record. Over the last three years, the Green Wave earned two undefeated region championships, two elite eight appearances, and a final four, while winning 64 games over that period.

“We are thrilled that Coach Long has decided to join our program!” said Head Coach Matt Lynch. “Coach Long was the first person to welcome me to the Lowcountry three short years ago, and we have had a powerful relationship ever since. He brings head coaching experience and a players-first mentality to the locker room. He will impact our guys and help propel them on to four-year opportunities.”

Long was the high school coach of former Salkehatchie star Jai Chislom, who is now playing division one at Cal State Northridge. The Savannah native also coached at Laney HS and Topsail HS in North Carolina and Augusta Christian in Georgia. He played collegiately at Augusta University, competing in the Big South conference.
