Louisiana Tech head coach Michael White announced today the hiring of Kyle Church as the new Director of Basketball Operations.
This past year Church was an assistant coach at Chipola College in Marianna, Fla., the hometown of former Bulldog Brandon Gibson, where he helped guide the Indians to a 26-5 record and a top 15 national ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
His primary responsibilities included scouting, recruiting and on-court development.
Prior to being on the coaching staff with the Indians, Church was the head graduate assistant manager at LA Tech during the 2011-12 season under coach White when the `Dogs pulled off upsets of Utah State and Nevada to reach their first ever WAC Tournament Final.
Church was in charge of monitoring the players’ academic progress and handling video content while receiving his master’s degree in kinesiology with a focus in sports performance.
During the 2010-11 season, Church was with White at Ole Miss as a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball team that went 20-14 with an appearance in the 2011 National Invitation Tournament (NIT). His primary duties were working on skill development, academics, video exchange and video breakdown.
