Here are the names that are rumored to merit some consideration to replace Kerry Rupp at Louisiana Tech. I actually don’t love this list – I would assume that it will change pretty quickly, but this is what I’ve heard today:
Dave Simmons – Head Coach McNeese State. A Louisiana Tech alum and one of the all-time leading scorers. Led his team to a 21-12 record this past season, won the Southland Conference regular season title and landed a berth in the NIT. Is a member of the Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Mike McConathy – Head Coach Northwestern State. He is the 2nd all-time leading scorer at Louisiana Tech and a Louisiana native. Led his team to an 18 win campaign this season.
Steve Forbes – Former Assistant Coach at Tennessee. Was an assistant at Louisiana Tech from 2000-03.
Wayne Morgan – Assistant Coach Hofstra. Former head coach at Iowa State and longtime Syracuse assistant. Tech AD Bruce Van De Velde hired Morgan when he was the AD at Iowa State.
Also, Ole Miss assistant Michael White, and Memphis assistant Glynn Cyprien are Louisiana natives, so I am sure that their names will come up as well.
