Emanuel Dildy, a Chicago native who spent last season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Eastern Illinois University, has been named to the same post at Loyola University Chicago head coach Porter Moser announced today.
Dildy arrives at Loyola after spending the 2012-13 season as an assistant coach on Jay Spoonhour’s staff at Eastern Illinois. Last season, he helped forward Sherman Blanford earn Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team honors after putting up 10.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest for the Panthers. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Dildy served as the head coach at Kennedy-King College for two seasons (2010-12) and compiled a 35-27 record and guided the program to an appearance in the NJCAA Region IV Tournament championship game.
After his playing days at Eastern Illinois, where he averaged 15.3 ppg as a senior in 2004-05, Dildy embarked on a professional playing career that featured stops in Germany and in the IBL. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Kennedy-King in 2008.
Loyola, which is coming off of a 15-win campaign in 2012-13, will begin its first season of competition in the Missouri Valley Conference this winter.
