The LSU Alexandria Generals filled an open spot on the men’s basketball coaching staff as head coach Larry Cordaro announced the hiring of Jimmy Wenslow III to round out his staff for next season.

Wenslow, a native of nearby Pineville, comes to LSUA after six years as an assistant coach at Tioga High School in Ball, La. During his stint at Tioga, he’s seen the Indian team grow to new heights, taking three of the last four district championships and clinching a spot in the LHSAA Class 4A Quarterfinals last season, the deepest playoff run by the Indians in a number of years.

“We feel Jimmy will be a great addition to this staff,” said head coach Larry Cordaro. “He worked under a coach I have a great respect for in Lance Brasher at Tioga. I know Jimmy will bring the same attitude that helped make Tioga a winner here to LSUA as we continue on our quest for conference and national championships. His expertise in skill development will be key to bringing out the best in our players. Also, he’s a local guy which we hope will help keep some of the top local talent in the area for college. We know he’s excited and ready to get going here at LSUA.”

Wenslow starts immediately. He and his wife, Tillisha, have a son, Micah.
