LSU-Alexandria Adds Tyler Sobey to Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff

The final piece of the LSUA men’s basketball staff has been put into place as the Generals announced the hiring of Tyler Sobey as new assistant coach.

Sobey, a native of Gilmer, Texas, come to Alexandria after spending time on the staff at the University of Arkansas serving as a student manager. During his time with the Razorbacks, he set up for practice and assisted on gameday operations. He also help prepare game footage for film study and team review. He was also key in setting up travel itineraries during road trips.

During the offseason, Sobey coached at the Mike Anderson Basketball Camps, helping young players develop and hone their basketball skills.

“We feel Tyler is a perfect piece to our coaching staff puzzle,” said LSUA head coach Larry Cordaro. “He came highly recommended and has done a great job transitioning from managing to coaching. His experience at Arkansas has given him a solid foundation to get his coaching career underway, and we believe his youthfulness and energy is a major positive coming with him to our program.”

Sobey holds a pair of bachelor’s degrees from Arkansas, in communications and political science. While a student, he also served as a cultural ambassador and served on the philanthropy committee.
