Luhn Joins Cincinnati Men’s Basketball Staff

University of Cincinnati men’s basketball head coach John Brannen announced the addition of Jake Luhn as assistant to the head coach and recruiting coordinator on Monday.

“We are very fortunate to have Jake and his family joining our program,” Brannen said. “Having worked together in the past, I’m familiar with the level of talent, energy and perspective that he brings. Jake will prove to be a tremendous addition to Cincinnati Basketball.”

Luhn (pronunciation rhymes with gun) had worked as Northern Kentucky’s director of basketball operations since May 2018. With Luhn on staff last season, the Norse compiled a 26-9 overall mark while claiming the Horizon League regular-season championship and appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons.

Luhn previously served as the associate head coach at Longwood University for five seasons (2014-18) under former head coach Jayson Gee. With the Lancers, Luhn was involved in recruiting, scouting, player development and scheduling. He primarily coached wing players.

Prior to his time at Longwood, Luhn worked four seasons (2004-07) on the coaching staff at St. Bonaventure, include three campaigns with Brannen, who was serving as an assistant coach on staff at the time. Luhn spent three seasons as the director of operations with the Bonnies before being elevated to assistant coach for the 2006-07 campaign.

Between stints at St. Bonaventure and Longwood, Luhn served as CEO of Lifestyle Home Builders, Inc., in Melbourne, Fla.

Luhn graduated from UMass Boston in 2002 with a degree in exercise science and physical education. He earned a master’s in business administration from UMass Amherst in 2004.
