College of Southern Idaho Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jeff Reinert announced Thursday that Ryan Lundgren has been elevated to Associate Head Coach.
Lundgren joined the CSI staff last year after a successful run as head coach at Vallivue High School. Prior to Vallivue, Lundgren made stops at Boise State University, Boise High School and Bishop Kelly High School. He also coaches with the Select AAU basketball program which is comprised of the top high school players from Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
Lundgren was the Director of Player Development under Leon Rice at Boise State University for four seasons (2011-15). Two of those years, BSU earned at-large appearances in the NCAA Tournament (2013, 2015). Those are the only at-large appearances in Bronco program history. In 2014-15, he was one of the coaches that helped Boise State to a Mountain West Championship. During his tenure at Boise State, he worked with several professional players, including current Chicago Bull, Chandler Hutchison.
“During the past year, Ryan has far exceeded my expectations,” Reinert said. “I knew when I hired him that he was a bright young coach with a tremendous work ethic, but day in and day out, he has established himself as a true leader of young men and really impacted every aspect of our program in recruiting, academics, community outreach, campus relations, player development and game preparation. He is the real deal and I am truly honored to announce his well-deserved promotion.”
Former CSI standout Mike Hood shared his excitement as well.
“I am excited for him,” said Hood, who was an NJCAA All-American at CSI and holds the CSI single season scoring record. “He spent a lot of early mornings helping me work on my game and he played a big part in my development at CSI. His dedication to the game is real. He’s a great person on and off the court.”
Coach Lundgren and his wife Lexi reside in Twin Falls and just welcomed their first child, London, into the CSI family last week.
