Grand Canyon University head men’s basketball coach Dan Majerle today announced that TJ Benson has been named an assistant coach, effective immediately. Benson will enter his third season with the program in 2014-15, after having previously served as an assistant coach in 2012-13 and the Director of Basketball Operations this past year.
"I’m excited for TJ, he is going to be a great coach for us," said head coach Dan Majerle. "He has a tremendous work ethic and is very well connected here in Phoenix and in Southern California. We expect him to be a strong asset in recruiting for us."
Benson came to Grand Canyon from Boise State, where he served as the assistant basketball operations coordinator in 2011-12.
Benson played collegiately at Weber State and GCU, earning Second Team All-Conference honors for the Antelopes in 2010. He also played professionally for a season with Tijuca Tenis Club in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Benson recently completed his MBA in Marketing at GCU.
