Manhattan College and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Masiello have agreed to a four-year contract extension through the 2019-2020 season.
During his five years at the helm of the Jaspers’ basketball team, Masiello has guided the program to back-to-back MAAC Championships and three postseason appearances after taking over a team that won just six games in the year prior to his arrival. Masiello has also been honored by the prestigious Met Basketball Writers Association as the organization’s Coach of the Year following the 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 seasons. Additionally, since his arrival all of Masiello’s four-year players have graduated from the college.
“I am very happy about the opportunity to continue to lead the Men’s Basketball Team at Manhattan College,” said Masiello. “I am grateful for the commitment shown by the administration to me and to the program, and I am excited to build on our success in the coming years.”
“We are delighted to have a coach of Steve’s caliber on board for four more years,” said Interim Director of Athletics Tom O’Connor. “He is an excellent teacher of basketball and we look forward to continued success in the future.”
Masiello and Manhattan will begin pursuit of a third straight MAAC Championship against Marist on Thursday, March 3 at 9:00 pm.
