The Manhattan College men’s basketball staff will have a new look in 2013-14 after the departure of assistant coach Oliver Antigua, who accepted a position with the Dominican Republic national team.
Former director of basketball operations Mathiew Wilson was elevated to assistant coach while Mike Bramucci will join the staff as the director of basketball operations.
"Matt Wilson has one of the best work ethics I’ve seen in a young coach," head coach Steve Masiello stated. "I think he’s going to be an absolute superstar in the business. He is a tireless worker with a great attitude. I couldn’t be happier for him and what he’s going to bring to the program in his new role."
Wilson coordinated the logistics of multiple aspects of the men’s basketball program as the director of operations at Manhattan for the last two years on Masiello’s staff. Prior to coming to Manhattan, Wilson worked on the same staff as Masiello at Louisville. Wilson was the assistant video coordinator for the 2010-11 season, assisting with the Cardinals’ opponent scouting. Wilson also coordinated the film exchange for a team that finished with a 25-10 overall record, 12-6 mark in the Big East and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
"With Matt moving up, we brought in Mike Bramucci, who is one of the sharpest basketball minds I’ve had the fortune of being around. Mike will really complement the staff with his experience, his wisdom and the fact that he’s been here at Manhattan before," Masiello explained.
Bramucci was an assistant coach for four seasons at Manhattan College, alongside Masiello for two of those seasons. His tenure culminated in the Jaspers’ 2003 MAAC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Bramucci has more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience at St. Peter’s, Delaware State, Manhattan and Columbia, and has also worked as the assistant to former Nets general manager Willis Reed.
A 1991 graduate of Ramapo College, Bramucci was the team’s co-captain as a senior. Ramapo reached the NCAA Division III Final Four during that season.
"We’re very fortunate to have the staff that we have," Masiello concluded. "They are four guys who will all be future head coaches and four guys who are more than capable in their jobs."
