I’ve heard that Manhattan has interviewed at least two candidates with three more possibly this week. I can confirm that current Manhattan assistant Scott Padget did get an interview last week. Padgett, who played at Kentucky was a 1st Round draft pick (28th overall) by the Utah Jazz in 1999 and spent eight years in the league. He played at Kentucky and was on John Calipari’s staff in 2009-10. Also, Louisville assistant Steve Masiello was on campus for an interview yesterday. Masiello is also a Kentucky grad who has spent the last six seasons on Rick Pitino’s staff. He was on Bobby Gonzalez staff at Manhattan prior to Louisville – in 4 years at Manhattan, the Jaspers were 83-36.
Other coaches who may be in the mix here at Long Island head coach Jim Ferry and St. Peter’s head coach John Dunne. Both led their teams to NCAA tournament births this season. Assistant coaches who I’ve heard that maybe involved are St. John’s Tony Chiles, Cincinnati assistant Darren Savino, and Notre Dame assistant Martin Inglesby.
