Manhattan update

After swinging and missing on LIU head coach Jim Ferry, it appears that Manhattan has finally found it’s next head coach. Louisville assistant Steve Masiello is going to be the choice here after a long weekend of deliberation by Manhattan officials. After offering LIU head coach Jim Ferry the job late last week, the two sides could not come to an agreement on the compensation (from what I’ve heard, they weren’t even close on a figure). After they decided they couldn’t come to an agreement, the administration narrowed it down to Masiello and Rhode Island College head coach Bob Walsh. Apparently the lack of scholarship recruiting hurt Walsh enough to land Masiello the job. Masiello is a NYC native who has great area connections. I’ve also heard that he is leaning towards keeping current assistant (and fellow Kentucky Wildcat) Scott Padgett on staff.

The hiring is now official. Here’s a link to the official release by Manhattan:…
