University of Georgia AD Greg McGarity released the following statement. It is in response to a Yahoo! Sports report about the future of head basketball coach Mark Fox:
“We are NOT in the process of exploring our options to replace Mark Fox. We look forward to Mark leading our program next year and all our efforts are centered on postseason play. It’s unfortunate we need to respond at this time, but it was necessary to quiet these unfounded rumors.”
The Bulldogs are currently 18-13 (9-9 SEC) and will face Tennessee in the SEC Tournament tomorrow. Fox has a career mark of 144-116 during his eight seasons at Georgia, while appearing in two NCAA Tournaments. Before coming to Athens, Fox compiled a 123-43 record in five seasons at Nevada.
