Marshall Men’s Basketball coach Cornelius Jackson announced the promotion of Ryan Taylor to Assistant Coach for the 2026-27 season.
The announcement continues the ascent of Taylor within the Thundering Herd program as he enters his fifth season on staff.
“Ryan is an MU Basketball alum who has been a part of our program for several years,” Jackson said. “He has earned this opportunity through his commitment to Marshall Basketball, his passion for player development and relationships he has built with our student-athletes. He has been an invaluable part of our program, and I’m excited to see him take the next step in his coaching journey.”
Entering his fifth season on staff, Taylor has served in a variety of roles prior to Jackson’s recent promotion to assistant coach.
In Jackson’s first two years leading the Herd, Taylor served as the Thundering Herd’s Director of Player Development, grooming individual skills that translated to team success with the Herd winning 39 games in those two seasons.
Prior to Jackson taking over as head coach, Taylor also served as Assistant Director of Operations for former head coach Dan D’Antoni, whom he played for in the final three years of his career from 2014-17.
The Indianapolis, Ind. was a standout player for the Herd and is statistically one of most complete players to ever don the Marshall jersey, finishing his career as a top-10 scorer (1,778 points, 10th), top-5 rebounder (985 rebounds, 3rd), top-10 blocked shots (122, 10th) and top-20 in assists (292).
