Manhattan Head Coach Steve Masiello has announced the addition of former All-MAAC performer Michael Alvarado to the 2015-2016 Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff.
“We are extremely excited about having Mike Alvarado back as part of our program,” said Masiello. “He is one of the ultimate competitors and brings us back to our championship days. With a young team he will be a big part of our culture and helping young players what being a professional is all about.”
In his new role, Alvarado will serve as a special assistant to Masiello while completing the Jaspers’ staff for the upcoming season.
“It is a great feeling to be back with the program,” said Alvarado. “It’s a huge opportunity for me to give back to the players as well as the coaches that once taught me.”
Prior to his appointment, Alvarado played professionally in Puerto Rico for two years following his graduation from Manhattan.
During his time with the Jaspers, he earned a pair of All-MAAC honors, scored 1,170 points and ranks sixth in school history with 363 assists and 159 steals. As a senior in 2013-2014, he helped lead Manhattan to 25 wins and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
