Just one year after joining the New Orleans men’s basketball program in a high-profile role, Percy “Master P” Miller is no longer serving as the unpaid president of basketball operations, per school officials via a report from NOLA.com. UNO cited a routine evaluation of roles and external relationships but did not provide specifics on his departure.
Miller’s arrival brought national attention to a struggling program that went 4-27 the year prior, as well as increased visibility through his social media presence and involvement in recruiting and NIL efforts. The Privateers improved to 15-18 this past season and climbed to fifth in the Southland Conference.
“We are very grateful for the energy that he brought to our basketball program,” UNO President Kathy Johnson said in an email to NOLA.com, “and for the care and concern he expressed for all our students as a volunteer and mentor.”
Representatives for Miller did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
UNO went 15-18 (12-10 Southland) this past season.
