Bridgewater College men’s basketball head coach Steve Enright has announced the addition of Bryan Mathews to the coaching staff for the 2020-21 season.
This past season, Mathews was the head varsity boys’ basketball coach at nearby Turner Ashby High School, but he also has experience at the college level.
“We are very excited about adding Bryan to our staff,” Enright said. “He has great experience at the college level as an assistant and also knows the local landscape well, coming from his most recent stop at TA. He’ll do a great job.”
“With the retention of assistants Marcus Anderson, Daniel Noe and Clay Michael and now the addition of both Jarrett Hatcher and Bryan Mathews, I feel great about our staff and its ability to operate at an extremely high level across the board as we build this program.”
Mathews was a three-year starter at Elmira College and following his undergraduate work he took his first college coaching position as an assistant at Keystone College.
He returned to Elmira as an assistant for two seasons before joining the coaching staff at SUNY-Oswego. He also coached at Keuka College.
His wife, Sarah Mathews, is the head coach of the women’s basketball program at Bridgewater and just finished her third season.
