Cabrini University head men’s basketball coach Tim McDonald has announced that he is stepping down after nine seasons at the helm of the Cavaliers program.

In his nine seasons as head coach, he had a 111-104 record, leading Cabrini to the NCAA tournament twice. During the 2017-18 season, he led Cabrini to a 25-4 mark while being named Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Coach of the Year as the Cavs won the CSAC title over Neumann. Cabrini advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

He leaves Cabrini with the third most wins in school history, and also appeared in the playoffs during eight of his nine seasons. The only time Cabrini did not was during the 2020-21 season when there was no Atlantic East tournament held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to being head coach, he served as an assistant coach until being elevated to head coach after the 2013-14 season.

A national search will take place to name McDonald’s successor.
