Midday Dirt – 3/29

Lots of rumors swirling today….

Here’s the morning blog in case you missed it:

This afternoon, I’ve heard a few things….

Look for DII Findlay to move quickly to replace the Ron Niekamp who resigned yesterday after 26 years. Word on the street is that associate head coach Charlie Ernst will be the choice here. He has been at Findlay for the past 20 years as a coach and a player.

Despite the rumors, Vermont head coach Mike Lonergan is not a candidate at Towson. I’ve heard that he is prepared to return to Vermont for his 7th season. I would assume that he is waiting for the right high major job to open in the next few years to make his move.

There are a bunch of rumors swirling around former Saginaw (MI) head coach Lou Dawkins. He resigned his position last week and will either head to Northern Illinois to join new head coach Mark Montgomery, or will take Montgomery’s place on Tom Izzo’s staff at Michigan State.

Now that Buzz Williams is out of play at Oklahoma, I’ve heard that BYU head coach Dave Rose is a legit contender. Rose is 159-45 during his six seasons at BYU, including 32-5 this season. I’ve also heard Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall and Colorado’s Tad Boyle mentioned here over the past few days.
