MILESTONE: Hampton’s Joyner wins #200

Hampton head coach Buck Joyner, Jr. won the 200th game of his career last night in dramatic fashion. The Pirates Russell Dean hit an off balanced 30-footer at the buzzer to give Joyner’s squad the 58-57 win.

Joyner has been the head coach at Hampton since 2009. During his tenure, he has led the Pirates to three MEAC Tournament Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances (2011, 2015, 2016) He was also honored as the 2020 Hampton Roads Encore Awards Best Coach Award 2016, 2018, finalist for the Ben Jobe Award, and 2015 HBCU Digest Male Coach of the Year.
