University of Cincinnati men’s basketball head coach Wes Miller announced seven members of his support staff for the 2021-22 season.
Former Bearcats players DerMarr Johnson and Kyle Washington highlight the group of seven new faces joining the team. Chris LePore, Kevin Anzenberger and Jaylen Stowe follow Coach Miller from UNCG while Jake Thelen and Matt Miller return home to Cincinnati.
LePore will serve as the program’s chief of staff, Johnson the director of player development, Thelen will be the director of player operations, Anzenberger is the team’s video coordinator, Washington and Stowe will be graduate managers while Miller will be an administrative assistant.
LEPORE
• Chief of staff will oversee the administrative staff and organize on-campus recruiting efforts.
• Comes to UC after seven years at UNCG, starting as a graduate assistant (2014) and working his way up to director of operations (2016) and eventually assistant coach (2017).
• Spent the last five years as an Assistant Coach, which includes both NCAA tournament berths in the Wes Miller era (2021, #13 seed v. Florida State; and 2018, #13 seed v. Gonzaga).
• Named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ (NABC) Under Armour 30-Under-30 list in 2018, which annually recognizes the top up-and-coming assistant coaches in men’s college basketball.

JOHNSON
• Director of Player Development will oversee individual development plans for Bearcat student-athletes and will coordinate details related to connecting with former players.
• Previously joined the Bearcats staff in 2017 as a student assistant coach under Mick Cronin, completing his undergraduate degree in spring 2019.
• Played for UC from 1999-2000, averaging 13.0 points and 3.7 rebounds on a team which featured National Player of the Year Kenyon Martin and third-team All-American Pete Mickeal, as well as Steve Logan and Kenny Satterfield.
• The former first-round draft pick had a seven-year NBA career and also played oversees in 10 different countries.

THELEN
• Edgewood, Kentucky natives will serve as director of basketball operations, overseeing team travel, meals, apparel and the budget.
• Joins UC after serving as the director of basketball operations at Georgia since 2018-19. At the time, Thelen was the youngest DOBO in the Power 5.
• Former standout player at Covington Catholic HS and Bellarmine University.
• Has previous coaching stops at St. Xavier (Ky.) HS, Indiana and Bellarmine.

ANZENBERGER
• As the video coordinator, he will manage all video-related tasks such as organizing databases, cutting individual player edits, and scouting report preparation.
• Anzenberger will also work directly with Coach Miller on his day-to-day schedule and recruiting travel.
• He comes to UC after two years as a graduate manager at UNCG.

WASHINGTON & STOWE
• Washington and Stowe will be graduate managers.
• Washington will be hands-on with player development, facilities upkeep, and assisting with video
• Washington completed his college career at UC from 2016-18 after transferring from NC State. He scored 1,275 points as a collegian and helped the Bearcats record back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time in program history. He returns to Cincinnati following a professional playing career that included stops at Yalova, the Windy City Bulls, Sioux Falls Skyforce, and most recently the Boca Juniors.
• Stowe will work in areas such as academics, administration, player development, and operations.
• Stowe follows Coach Miller after spending one season as a graduate manager at UNCG. He graduated from Mercer in 2019, playing four seasons for the Bears. As a senior he started all 31 contests and averaged 10.5 points & 4.9 boards per game. He played one season in the ABA for Richmond Elite

MATT MILLER
• As the administrative assistant, he will support all staff with daily operations and oversee business office organization within the program.
• Miller comes back home to Cincinnati after spending time at Indiana University working with Coach Roberts.
• Was a four year student manager for the Hoosiers and was the head manager his senior year.
