De’Andre Miller has been named Lamar University men’s basketball director of operations announced head coach Alvin Brooks Tuesday afternoon. Miller replaces Aaron Proctor who served in the role for the previous two seasons.
Miller comes to the Golden Triangle after spending the previous three seasons at Mary Hardin Baylor. During his time in Belton, Miller held several roles, including that of assistant coach for two seasons. In addition to his obligations as coach, Miller also served as the athletic events manager, was manager of operations for the Mayborn Campus Center and also served as assistant director of the Mayborn Campus Center.
“De’Andre brings experience and a great work ethic to Lamar Men’s Basketball,” added Brooks. “He has been a successful winner at Mary Hardin Baylor and Texas A&M-Kingsville. De’Andre is a caring servant leader for our student athletes. We are excited to welcome him to our Lamar family.”
Miller joined the staff at Mary Hardin Baylor after a two-year stint at Texas A&M-Kingsville where he served as a graduate assistant coach. During that time, he also oversaw the Javelina Summer Basketball Camps.
During his time on the sidelines in Belton, Miller helped coach the Crusaders to the NCAA Division III Elite Eight and two ASC conference titles. That season came on the heels of a similar run for A&M-Kingsville where he helped guide the Javelinas to the Division II tournament.
