Minnesota North College Rainy River has announced the hiring of Ernest Collins as the new men’s head basketball coach at the Rainy River Campus.

Originally from Flint, Michigan, Coach Collins developed a love for coaching from an early age, inspired by his father. “Coaching runs in the family,” said Coach Collins. “My dad has been a coach for 25 years. I saw how he touched so many lives, and I want to do that too.”

Coach Collins brings a wealth of experience to the role, entering his 14th season in coaching basketball and 4th Season at the Collegiate level. He has coached at various levels, including positions at the University of Miami, University of Michigan-Flint, and Frank Phillips College. His passion for the sport and commitment to developing players is evident in every aspect of his coaching career.

“After 13 years of waiting for a head coach opportunity, moving up here has allowed me to step into this role and start something special,” Coach Collins shared. “I’m confident that I can make a difference here.”
