Maurice Acker has been hired as the Grayson College Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach.
“I’m very excited to add Mo to our staff,” says Head Coach Scott Monarch. “I respected his work ethic and approach to the game as a player and am confident that same work ethic will carry over into his coaching career.”
Acker has played 12 years of professional basketball in France and has won two European championships.
He began his college basketball career at Ball State in 2005-06, where he averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game. He started in all 28 games as a freshman and was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team, as well as being named the league’s Rookie of the Year.
He then transferred to Marquette, where he played under Grayson’s Head Coach Scott Monarch. He ranks fourth all-time in the 3-point field goal percentage (.416). In his 2009-10 season, he ranked second in the nation and first in the Big East in assist-to-turnover ratio. He also led the Big East in 3-point field goal percentage (.495).
“We have a special group of guys on this team and I’m excited to get started,” says Acker. “I appreciate Coach Monarch and Grayson College for giving me this opportunity.”
