Moberly Area Community College has announced four finalists for the head coach position. MACC received over 150 applications and narrowed it down to the following.
Christopher Tifft, who is the head coach at Lamar Community College, he has been there since 2004. This past season he led Lamar to a region IX title and a 27-11 record. He also spent 5 seasons as an assistant at the University of Nevada. He could be a good choice.
Chris Craig is the head coach of the College of Eastern Utah. He just finished up his first season has head coach and led them to a 25-7 record. He has very little coaching experience.
Jay Spoonhour is the front runner here. He is the son of former MACC coach Charlie Spoonhour who led the greyhounds to third place national finish in 1974. Jay has spent the last two seasons at University of Texas-San Antonio. In 2001 he was named NJCAA coach of the year after leading Wabash Valley College to a 36-1 record and the NJCAA Championship in his first and only season at the Mt. Carmel, Ill., school.
Mike Brown is in his first season as head coach at Motlow State Community College. He finished this season 22-8 record and winning its first outright Eastern Division title since the 2001 season. Coach Brown doesn’t have has much experience has some of the candidates but he is only 29.
