After successful years at the helm with the Lady Eagles, Mark Molder has decided to accept the Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball head coaching position.
Molder replaces Jason Beschta, who after serving as head coach from 2011-14, has decided to pursue another option.
Molder had three successful seasons with the women’s team, where he led the Lady Eagles to its first-ever Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title during the 2012-13 campaign, as well as back-to-back trips to the NAIA National Tournament.
Prior to coaching the women’s team, Molder served as the lead assistant coach for the men’s team from 2007-2011 and played an integral part of the program that won the NAIA DII 2 National Championship in 2009 NAIA.
He also helped in guiding the men’s program to two final fours, three elite-eights, and four sweet sixteens.
“I’m really excited about stepping into this new role,” Molder told his press conference on Tuesday morning.

“I am looking forward to taking the men’s program another step further, with the knowledge that it will not be an easy task replacing the talents that we had in the last few years,” added Molder, who won the MCAC Women’s Coach of the Year award in 2013-14 season, in addition to the landing the NCCAA Central Region honor three successive seasons, from 2011-14.
Molder will start his new post with a very impressive record.
As an assistant and a head coach, the former OKWU sharp shooter’s combined coaching record currently stands at 182-53.
Molder and his wife Kandi, have twin boys, Grant and Cameron.
Meanwhile, Matt Harner, who returns for a second stint with the Eagles, will act as assistant to Molder where he is expected to head-up the Junior Varsity program as well.
Harner worked with Jason during last season and was the head JV coach as well.
Former Eagle, Jason Young will also be a graduate assistant to Molder.
