CRAIG MOORE: IONA MEN’S BASKETBALL GENERAL MANAGER

Craig Moore is a highly respected basketball coach, executive, and former professional player with extensive experience in player development, roster construction, and strategic team management.

Most recently, Moore served as a head coach in the USA Basketball system, where his leadership led teams to notable international success, including a gold medal at the 2024 3×3 AmeriCup and a first-place finish in the 2024 Men’s U23 Nations League. His achievements earned him a nomination for the 2024 USA Basketball 3×3 Coach of the Year. Moore has also served on USA Basketball’s Finance & Audit Committee since 2018, where he provides investment allocation recommendations to USA Basketball’s Board of Directors.

In addition to his national team role, Moore has been the general manager of Princeton 3×3 since 2018, overseeing all aspects of scouting, recruiting, contract negotiations, and team operations. This position has allowed him to sustain success at the highest levels of 3×3 basketball.

Moore’s coaching journey began as an assistant coach and director of operations at Princeton University during the 2014-15 season, where he contributed significantly to player development and program management. After his time at Princeton, he transitioned into financial services, where he worked until 2022, all while continuing to play professional 3×3 basketball for USA Basketball.

A standout player during his collegiate career at Northwestern University (2005-09), Moore earned two All-Big Ten selections and led the conference in three-point field goals during both his junior and senior years. He remains Northwestern’s all-time leader in three-pointers made. Moore played one season for the Dutch team De Friesland Aris and another for Gaz Metan Medias in Romania.

Moore graduated from Northwestern in 2009 with a degree in communication studies. A native of Doylestown, Pa., he attended The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey before continuing his basketball career at Northwestern.

THE ROLE OF GENERAL MANAGER FOR IONA UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL

The general manager position for Iona University men’s basketball will play a key role in building and maintaining a competitive program. The GM will work closely with the coaching staff on roster management, identifying top recruits, and navigating the transfer portal to ensure the team remains strong and competitive each season.

A critical aspect of the GM’s role will be to develop an effective Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) strategy and ensure player retention to create opportunities for student-athletes and foster long-term team stability. In today’s evolving college basketball landscape, these responsibilities are more important than ever. The GM will also manage transfer portal activity, serve as a liaison with collectives, cultivate relationships with recruits, families, and alumni players, oversee professional player programs, and support program fundraising.

The GM will also leverage advanced analytics to provide valuable insights into player performance, opponent tendencies, and team strategies, while helping the coaching staff make informed decisions and optimize game plans.

By overseeing scouting, recruiting, and roster construction, the general manager will help ensure the program remains at the forefront of college basketball excellence.

“Having someone like Craig Moore to oversee the management of our program is a big step forward,” said Geriot. “His experience in analytics, recruiting, and roster construction will be essential to helping us succeed both on and off the court.”
