The Moravian College men’s basketball team has announced Micah Covert and Thomas Shiffert to its staff for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

“I am excited to have Micah and Thomas joining me at Moravian to help build on the tradition of the Moravian program,” stated Head Coach Justin Potts ’00, who is entering his first season at the helm of the Greyhounds. “I worked with both Micah and Thomas during my time at East Stroudsburg University and know that they will bring their knowledge and passion for the game. They will be great influences on the players on and off the court at Moravian.”

Covert comes to the Hounds after two years as an assistant coach at East Stroudsburg. Covert was part of the best season in school history when the Warriors went 30-2 winning the PSAC Title and making it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament during the 2013-14 season. While at East Stroudsburg, Covert assisted in scouting opponents and player development with the inside players. He coached a Rookie of the year in 2013-14 and two All-Americans during the 2014-15 season. Prior to his two years at ESU, he worked as an assistant at Neumann University for one year where he was part of a team that reached the conference semifinals. Covert received his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from ESU in 2013 and completed his Master’s degree in Exercise Science in 2015.

Shiffert comes to Moravian via East Stroudsburg after serving four years as the head men’s basketball manager. His responsibilities in this role included helping to manage the program’s daily operations, including practice and travel, assisting the coaching staff with scouting reports and conducting individual player workouts. Shiffert works as a coach and administrator for the prestigious Hoop Group, and is a regular participant at the Elite and Top 100 camps throughout the east coast. The Nazareth native graduated from ESU in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Speech. Shiffert’s father Jim was a member of the 1983 NCAA Team at Moravian.
