John Jay head men’s basketball coach Ryan Hyland has added Kevin Moriarty to his staff. Moriarty will commence his first season as assistant coach.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kevin into our Bloodhound Family,” commented Hyland. “He comes from two great programs where he was able to learn from two real teachers of the game. We are excited for the impact he will have within our program.”
For the Bloodhounds, Moriarty will be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the program. He will oversee the on-the-court player development of the student-athletes and hold responsibilities in scouting, film breakdown, administrative duties, practice planning, game preparation, and recruiting.
Before arriving at John Jay, he was the graduate assistant for the Manhattan College Jaspers men’s basketball team. In this role, while pursuing a Master’s Degree, he was in charge of on-court player development, assisting with scouting reports, and basketball operations.
Moriarty was a member of the men’s basketball at Division II member, Molloy, and earned a degree in Finance.
Following graduation, he started his own basketball training company. He has since worked with hundreds of athletes from all levels including youth, high school, college, and NBA.
Moriarty is a native of Rockaway Beach, NY, and attended Xaverian High School.
