Harry Morra returns to the Bulldogs sideline replacing Matt Hunter as Coach Coval’s full-time assistant on the men’s basketball team. He returns having spent one season with Lehigh University, serving as the Video Coordinator, in which the Mountain Hawks upset Duke University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to joining Lehigh, Morra spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant with the Bulldogs, helping guide the team to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2009-10 when the Bulldogs finished the season with a 24-6 overall record.
In January 2009, he returned from overseas, where he spent one season as a shooting guard and one season as an assistant coach for Belfast Star of the Sea, one of 12 teams in the Irish Superleague. The opportunity to be a part of Star of the Sea came as a result of Morra’s non-profit work with PeacePlayers International, a sport (basketball) for good organization addressing conflict in Northern Ireland, South Africa, Cyprus, and the Middle East. Morra spent time in South Africa and Northern Ireland from 2007 to 2009, winning a Eurobasket Championship in France and competing in the Emerald Isle Classic with Notre Dame University, Ireland, Iceland, and Poland.
Prior to being overseas, Morra spent one season as an assistant coach at Phillipsburg High School, helping them improve from 2 to 13 wins from one year to the next, winning a Skyland Conference Championship and advancing to the first round of the NJSIAA state playoffs.
Morra, a native of Phillipsburg, NJ, graduated from DeSales University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He played four years with the Bulldogs, being named a team captain as a senior, while leading the Freedom Conference in 3-point shooting percentage (48.3%), as DeSales won a then school-record 24 games and were nationally ranked that season. Morra was named the MAC Academic Honor Roll three times during his career. He finished his career with 324 career points and 59 made three-pointers.
Morra has also worked multiple camps since his graduation from DeSales including ones at Duke University, Villanova University, Lehigh University, East Stroudsburg University, DeSales University, and Basketball City (Boston).
