Mullins promoted to Associate Head Basketball Coach at Murray State

Murray State men’s basketball Head Coach Ryan Miller announced that Brendan Mullins has been promoted to Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator ahead of the 2024-25 season for the Racers.

“I’m thrilled to announce Brenden Mullins’ promotion,” Miller said. “His extensive experience in the Missouri Valley Conference, paired with his relentless work ethic and exceptional defensive acumen, has earned Brendan this role with our team. Brendan has the ability to craft aggressive, disciplined defenses that will strengthen our team as we pursue MVC championships.”

“My wife, Alexandria, and I are incredibly grateful to call Murray home and to be raising our daughter in such a welcoming and passionate community,” Mullins said. “The tradition of excellence at Murray State, both on and off the court, is something we deeply value. I’m honored by the opportunity to continue serving this historic basketball program in an expanded role, and I am thankful to Coach Miller for his trust and leadership. The energy our student-athletes bring every day, combined with the incredible support from our student body and fans at the CFSB Center, makes this a truly special place. I’m excited about the direction we’re headed and look forward to building something great together.”

Prior to his first season with the Racers in 2023-24, Mullins was already one of the most knowledgeable coaches in The Valley having now coached at four MVC schools. From 2019-24, Mullins worked with his brother, Bryan, who was head coach at Southern Illinois. Brendan Mullins also coached at Illinois State from 2017-19 and UIC from 2015-17, when the Flames played in the Horizon League. Mullins’ career began with stops at Wright State (2010-15), Green Bay (2009-10) and Mercyhurst (2007-09).
