Naclerio Returns to Join St. Lawrence Men’s Basketball Staff

After a five-year playing career and becoming the second all-time leading point scorer in St. Lawrence University men’s basketball history, Riley Naclerio ’18 has joined the basketball staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2019-20 season.

Naclerio, a team captain who began pursuing his masters in Educational Leadership last season, finished his career with 1,502 points, 709 rebounds, 160 assists, 120 blocks and 75 steals. Over the course of five years he averaged 13.5 points per game and shot 74.3 percent from the free-throw line. He earned a spot on the Liberty League’s honor roll 16 times, earned Second-Team All-Liberty League and All-Tournament Team honors as a sophomore and Third-Team All-East Region, First-Team All-Liberty League and Liberty League All-Academic honors during his fifth year.

Naclerio also spent time as a Saints Basketball Camp Coach and Student Athletic Trainer.

Naclerio also worked as an Admissions Summer Intern and was an Admissions Ambassador for St. Lawrence, where he helped inform prospective students what a St. Lawrence education encompasses. He conducted campus tours, completed projects related to recruitment and yield, such as analyzing the collegiate sports rosters for high school trends and comparing them to schools similar to St. Lawrence and attended and managed admissions events such as Visit Days, Summer Sendoffs, and Legacy Days.

“We’re excited to have him back hitting the road recruiting and working with some of our younger bigs in a coaching roll,” said head coach Chris Downs. “Riley’s commitment to this team has been instrumental the last five years and we know he’ll show that same level as an assistant and work with our players to help them develop their skills and commitment to the program.”

The Saints will open the 2019-20 season at home against SUNY Potsdam on November 12.
