NAIA DIRT: Burton no longer Head Basketball Coach at Union College (KY)

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

A big early season shake-up at the NAIA level, as I can confirm that Kevin Burton is no longer the head men’s basketball coach at Union College (KY). Current AD and former women’s basketball head coach Tim Curry has taken over as the interim head coach, replacing Burton.

Burton has had significant success at Union over his 11-seasons at the helm. During his tenure, he went 281-83, and captured the 2017 NAIA D2 National Championship. Burton also won 25 or more games eight times while at Union, and was tabbed as the 2017 HoopDirt.com NAIA National Coach of the Year.

Curry, the all-time winningest coach in Union women’s basketball history, wrapped up 18-year stint in 2019 with a record of 331-235. He took over as the interim AD in 2011 and was elevated to AD in 2013. After stepping away from basketball in 2019, he assumed the title of Executive Director of Athletics.

An official announcement is expected shortly.
