Florida Poly is staring athletics in the fall of 2026. I can confirm that their first-ever men’s basketball coach will be Dennis Hopson.

Hopson was the 1987 Big Ten player of the year at Ohio State, and was the #3 pick in the NBA draft that year by the New Jersey Nets. Following a long professional playing career, Hopson got into coaching, spending time as an assistant Northwood (2007-09), Bowling Green (2009-14), and as the head coach at now defunct NAIA Lourdes University (2019-24).

Florida Poly is in the process of joining the NAIA and The Sun Conference.
