Larry Brown, who was just named as the head coach of Fiat Torino in Italy’s Lega Serie A, will take Keiser University head coach Dante Calabria with him as an assistant. Calabria has already been replaced at Keiser by former long-time Browrd College head coach Bob Starkman.
Calabria had been an assistant on Rollie Massimino’s staff at Keiser, and was elevated to head coach after Massimino passed away this past fall. Following his career at North Carolina (1992-1996), Calabria spent 16-seasons playing overseas, mostly in Italy. He was also a member of the Italian National team, and spent time coaching Cus Jonico Taranto.
Starkman resigned after 21-seasons (319-186) at Broward back in April. He was officially added as an assistant at KU back on 6/13. Starkman was recently named to the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Basketball Hall of Fame and the Broward College Hall of Fame.
