NAIA DIRT: Morgan resigns as Head Basketball Coach at Bluefield University

Richard Morgan has announced his departure after 16 seasons as the head men’s basketball Coach at NAIA Bluefield University (VA). The veteran coach posted the following on Facebook:

After 16 seasons with the Rams, it’s time for a new chapter. This decision wasn’t easy, but I’m forever grateful to Bluefield University for welcoming me into the Rams family and giving me the opportunity to pursue my dream and lead incredible student-athletes over the years.

Coaching at BU has been an honor, and I’m proud of what we built together. To my players—you made this journey unforgettable! I will always cherish the friendships and support of my colleagues, alumni, and the entire Bluefield community.

Though I’m moving on, Bluefield will always be a part of me. Once a Ram, always a Ram. 🐏💙🏀#GoRams

Morgan, who played at Virginia, served as a D1 assistant before taking over at Bluefield back in 2009, with stops at App State, East Carolina, and Hampton.

Bluefield finished this season 6-19 (6-14 AAC) record.
