I can confirm that Donald Reyes has resigned as the head men’s basketball coach at NAIA Loyola University (NO). Word on the street is that Reyes will join Quannas White’s new staff at Louisiana as an assistant.
Reyes took over at Loyola in 2022 following the departure of Stacy Hollowell. Over three seasons with the Wolf Pack, he compiled a 50-40 record, leading the team to two SSAC Championships and two NAIA national tournament appearances. His best season came in 2022-23 when Loyola finished 24-6 (16-3).
Before joining Loyola, Reyes spent 15 years coaching at the NCAA Division I level. Just prior to his hiring, he was the Director of Basketball Operations at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, playing a key role in the Islanders’ first NCAA Tournament appearance in 15 years. Before that, he served as an assistant coach at Bethune-Cookman from 2019 to 2021, overseeing recruiting, scouting, player development, and basketball operations.
More on this move once it becomes official.
