NAIA Life Pacific hires Jenkins as Head Men’s Basketball Coach

Life Pacific University Athletics is excited to announce Evan Jenkins as the next Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

Evan brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in collegiate basketball. Over the past few years, he has helped lead multiple programs to significant improvements, most recently at Biola University, where he played a pivotal role in improving the team’s record from 17-12 in the first year to 22-8 in the second. Under his guidance, Biola’s conference standing also rose from 4th to 2nd place in the PacWest Conference. Prior to Biola, Evan helped Lewis-Clark State College improve from a 14-15 record to 24-9, recruiting standout players such as two-time First Team All-Cascade Conference honorees and the Cascade Conference Freshman of the Year. He also contributed to a successful four-year run at The Master’s University, helping the team achieve a 91-30 overall record.  Evan’s coaching journey began after he finished his college basketball career at The Master’s University. After a successful stint as an assistant coach at Santa Clarita Christian School, where he helped guide the team to its first CIF Division 5 Southern Section and State Championships, Evan joined the coaching staff at TMU and quickly began his college coaching career.

Evan’s responsibilities have included recruiting, player development, individual workouts, film breakdown, opponent scouting, and strength and conditioning. He has also directed several summer camps for children and provided mentorship and discipleship opportunities to student-athletes. His commitment to the growth of athletes extends beyond the court, as he integrates his faith into his coaching, encouraging players to excel both spiritually and athletically.

Originally from San Bernardino, California, Evan holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Education in Teaching, a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling, and a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology & Physical Education. He is deeply passionate about using his platform to mentor and disciple young men, building on the positive impact basketball has had on his own life.  Evan stated, “My reason for coaching is to be used by the Lord to help mentor and disciple young men to grow in their love for Christ.  There have been so many leaders that have poured into my life through basketball and impacted me in a positive way, I hope to do the same and pass it on to the next generation.”

Evan is married to his wife, Hannah, and they have two children—daughter Hadley (2) and son Hayes (3 months). When not on the court, Evan enjoys working out, cooking, reading the Bible, and spending time with his family, including taking his kids to the park.

When asked to share about his excitement of joining LPU and impact of being a Coach, Coach Evan stated, “During my time in college, the gospel of Jesus Christ changed my heart and purpose for living.  After placing my faith in Christ, the Lord used godly men in my life to help me see that life was so much more than basketball.  Though I have strong love for basketball and for competition, I hope to help my players develop a deeper understanding and appreciate for the Gospel.  My ultimate goal is to pursue excellence on the court but to even more encourage them to live their lives in a Christ-honoring way.”
