Ottawa University Arizona Men’s Basketball and Coach Matt Keeley have announced the promotion of Cale Brubaker to Associate Head Coach. Coach Brubaker has his hands on all parts of Spirit basketball, primarily taking the lead on scouting and recruiting.
Cale came to OUAZ at the start of the 2021-2022 season. OUAZ is in just its seventh season as a University, and since his time with the Spirit, they have achieved many on-the-floor successes, compiling a total record of 67-25 (.728) and appearing in each of the past 2 NAIA National Tournaments, finishing in the Fab Four in 2023-2024. Their post-season record during this same span is 11-2, including two GSAC Tournament Championships.
“Cale is a relentless worker who is completely invested in our student-athletes,” OUAZ Head Coach Matt Keeley said. “He is a man of character that sets an unbelievable example for our players in both his words and actions. He is a tremendous relationship builder and will be a great head coach in the near future. We are fortunate to have him on our staff, and I am very thankful to call him a friend.”
Coach Cale Brubaker is a San Antonio native who played collegiately at MidAmerica Nazarene University for Hall of Fame Coach Rocky Lamar. Prior to OUAZ, he also spent time on Coach Steve Henson’s staff with the NCAA Division I program at the University of Texas San Antonio. The Spirit currently sit at 17-6 on the season and are tied at the top of the GSAC standings. They travel to California this week as they take on Life Pacific and The Masters. Game times are 8:30 PM on Thursday and 3 PM on Saturday.
