Florida Memorial University head men’s basketball coach Ansar Al-Ameen announced that he is stepping down to pursue other opportunities in basketball after five seasons at the helm.
“I loved my time at FMU and can’t wait to witness the growth and elevation of the University,” said Al-Ameen. “We won a championship together at FMU and we have more to come.”
In addition to his time at FMU, Al-Ameen spent time on the basketball staffs at the University of Missouri, Texas Southern University, Prairie View State University, and Fresno State.
“I have had many great conversations with Coach Al-Ameen over the past two seasons. He has been a solid university ambassador and we appreciate that he has agreed to join our enrollment management team on an interim basis. We thank him for his leadership with our program and the athletic department in general. We wish him well as he charts his next adventure.” Said FMU Director of Athletics Jason Horn.
Florida Memorial will conduct a national search for its next head men’s basketball coach.
