NAIA NEWS: Lundgren resigns as Head Basketball Coach at Carroll College

Carroll College Athletic Director Charlie Gross has accepted the resignation of Men’s Basketball Coach Ryan Lundgren, effective immediately following his one season at the helm.

“We would like to thank Ryan for the leadership he provided the young men in our basketball program,  and the excitement that their play on the court generated.” said Gross “We wish him well in his next step.”

Lundgren was hired in June of 2023, leading his team to a 19-12 record. The 2023-24 Fighting Saints finished with a Frontier Conference record of 12-3, and a second place finish in the final league standings.

Under Lundgren’s direction, the Saints returned to the NAIA Men’s Basketball Championship for the first time since the 2021-22 season, ultimately losing in the First Round to eight-seed Cornerstone (Mich.).

Junior guard Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was named Frontier Conference Player of the Year in Lundgren’s lone season at Carroll, while Kendall Moore (Dayton, Ohio / JR) was named second team All-Conference, and Zane Foster (Puyallup, Wash. / JR) was named to the All-Defensive team.

A search to find Lundgren’s successor will commence immediately.
