NAIA NEWS: Mast named Head Basketball Coach at Trinity Christian College

Trinity Christian College and Director of Athletics Wendy Reid have announced that Jordan Mast will become the 15th head coach of the Trinity Men’s Basketball program.

Mast comes to Palos Heights after five seasons as head coach of Antelope Valley (Calif.). A three-time Cal Pac Conference Coach of the Year during his time with the Pioneers, Mast helped guide his teams to a record of 99-26, three Cal Pac regular season championships, two Cal Pac Tournament titles, and three NAIA Tournament appearances.

“His success on the court speaks for itself,” said Reid. “But the difficulties that Jordan and his team went through this season, and the perseverance and determination that group showed in the face of those issues indicated what kind of coach Jordan is. We are excited to have him join the Trinity Trolls family.”

Antelope Valley announced that the university would close in early March, but the basketball team would finish out their season after fundraising efforts allowed the team to afford to play the rest of the season, including a second Cal Pac conference tournament title and trip to the NAIA tournament.

Prior to his time as head coach at Antelope Valley, Mast served as the program’s Associate Head Coach for two seasons, where the Pioneers won back-to-back Cal Pac regular season and tournament championships.

“My family and I could not be more thrilled to join the Trinity community,” said Mast. “We want to personally thank Wendy Reid and President [Dr. Aaron] Kuecker for giving us this opportunity. Throughout the interview process, every person at Trinity has been so welcoming and made us feel like we are already part of the family. I can’t wait to get to campus and get to work as the next men’s basketball coach.”

Mast is a graduate of Gonzaga University, where he played for two seasons for the Bulldogs and was a part of two NCAA Tournament trips, including a Sweet 16 appearance with the Bulldogs in 2006.
