A mid-season men’s basketball coaching change has been made at NAIA Florida National University. The school has released the following statement:
Florida National University’s red-hot men’s basketball team (3-5) will have a new leader in the locker room, as first-year assistant coach Daniel Pressman will take over head coaching responsibilities for the Conquistadors. Pressman’s promotion follows the departure of former head coach Marcos Molina on Dec. 7.
Florida National has been on a winning streak as of late, defeating No. 17 Ave Maria University at home 88-78 in late November and outlasting Keiser University 87-84 on Dec. 6. Pressman made his debut against the No. 24 St. Thomas University Bobcats Dec. 9, but FNU fell short of an upset 83-75.
Pressman came to FNU from Florida International University, where the Florida native served as a graduate assistant and student manager for the Panthers. As a grad assistant, Pressman gained experience in scouting, cutting film and skill training while earning a Master of
Science in Kinesiology & Exercise Science.
Molina had been in his third season as the head coach at FNU. No reason was given for his departure.
