BYU assistant head basketball coach Terry Nashif announced today that he is leaving the program to pursue business opportunities.

“Our time at BYU has been an amazing opportunity and experience for me and my family,” Nashif said. “Being associated with Coach Rose, both as a player and a coach, has been one of the great honors of my life. I’m very excited for the future as I’ve decided it’s the best time to pursue opportunities outside of basketball. I’ll be forever grateful for my years at BYU.”

Nashif joined the staff as director of operations when Dave Rose was hired as head coach in 2005. He was named an assistant coach in 2007 and in 2016 was promoted to assistant head coach.

“We are grateful for Terry, Katie, and their family for their hard work, dedication and sacrifice for BYU basketball,” Rose said. “Terry’s role has been vital to the consistency of our program. His presence will be missed within our staff and amongst our players. I have all the confidence in the world that Terry will be very successful in his future endeavors.”

With Nashif on the staff, BYU accumulated a record of 305-111 (.733), won 20-plus games each season and won four conference titles. The Cougars also advanced to the postseason each year with eight NCAA tournament appearances and four NIT invites.

Since 2011, Nashif has directed a BYU offensive attack that has ranked among the best in the nation. From 2011-12 to 2015-16, the Cougars were among the top 15 in scoring each season, including second in 2014-15 and third in 2013-14.

Nashif played for coach Steve Cleveland at BYU from 2001-05 and appeared in 103 games and made 14 starts.
