Nasir Named Men’s Basketball Director of Operations at Cal State Fullerton

Cal State Fullerton head men’s basketball coach Dedrique Taylor has named Omar Nasir the director of operations for the program after Anthony Santos was promoted from the position to assistant coach.

Nasir was with the UC Davis program during the 2016-17 season as the video coordinator and assistant director of operations. Some of his duties as the video coordinator included coordinating film exchange with opponents, downloading film for the coaches to view for scouting purposes and creating team and individual edits for the head coach to show to the student-athletes.

“Omar has the qualities we covet when adding members to our staff,” Taylor said. “He is organized, and has experience in our conference having spent time at UC Davis. He will be a great addition to our staff in his role moving forward and we are excited to have him.”

Nasir also helped plan day-to-day activities for the squad, such as travel planning, meal coordination and making sure all the necessary equipment made each trip.

Prior to joining the UC Davis program, Nasir was a graduate assistant at Western New Mexico University. He was charged with conducting individual workouts and strength training during the offseason. Nasir also aided in on-court coaching during practices and games such as implementing drills and coaching student-athletes in specific situations.

Nasir was a student manager at USC for the 2014-15 season under head coach Andy Enfield where he helped with individual workouts and helped with editing film clips for the coaching staff.

Nasir earned his masters degree in educational leadership and business administration at Western New Mexico and completed his bachelor of science degree in business administration at USC.
