Oakland University Men’s Basketball and Head Coach Greg Kampe have announced the addition of Bobby Naubert to the Men’s Basketball staff effective this July.
“I am extremely excited to join Coach Kampe’s staff at Oakland University. It’s an honor and a privilege to be part of the rich basketball tradition,” said Naubert, “I look forward to learning from one of the best basketball minds in the history of the game.”
Naubert joins the Golden Grizzlies after spending the past two seasons with Garden City Community College as an Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Assistant Coach. In the 2023 season, Naubert helped lead the Broncbusters to a 21-9 overall record, 16-8 in Jayhawk Conference play for the most wins in school history.
“It’s great to be back in Michigan and I look forward to being able to recruit the state and use my national connections for the Grizzlies,” said Naubert.
The Michigan native has recruited and developed three National Junior College Athletic Association All-Americans, 15 NCAA Division I products from junior college, two Jayhawk Conference First Team selections, a Jayhawk Conference Rookie of the Year, and oversaw the highest team grade point average in school history at 3.4 in a short time with GCCC.
Naubert joined Central Michigan University as a Graduate Assistant in 2017 where the Chippewas navigated its 21-15 record into the 2018 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Upon graduation, Naubert was a Video Coordinator at CMU for a single season in 2019 which saw the squad accumulate the most wins in school history at 23-12 which received a post-season CBI invite.
After being promoted to Director of Basketball Operations at Central Michigan in 2019, Naubert traversed to Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa where he recruited First and Second Team All-Region selections and a Region XI Tournament Quarterfinal as a Assistant Coach.
As a student-athlete at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, Naubert was selected as a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American three times as well as a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Player of the Year honor. When his collegiate career concluded, Naubert played in Germany’s Pro B league for two seasons.
Naubert graduated from Central Michigan with a Master’s in History following a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Studies Education with honors at Madonna.
