NC State denies report that they have reached out to Archie Miller

North Carolina State issued a statement yesterday refuting a report that the University has made the decision to fire head basketball coach Mark Gottfried at the end of the season. The story published yesterday by WTVD also reported that “preliminary feelers have been put out to Dayton head coach and former Wolfpack guard Archie Miller to gauge his interest in the position.”

“Mark Gottfried remains our head coach and we are all focused on our next opponent,” N.C. State associate athletic director Fred Demarest said in a statement released by the school. “To suggest we have reached out to any other coach is both incorrect and blatantly irresponsible.”

N.C. State athletic director Debbie Yow has said she will evaluate Gottfried’s status after the season.

After an 88-58 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday, NC State fell to 14-12, 3-10 in the ACC. The loss marked the 3rd time this season that NC State has lost a game by 25 or more points.

HoopDirt.com will stay on top of this very fluid situation.
